Is my 10-month-old kitten's 5.6 lb weight healthy or too small?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 months and 30 days old | 5 lbs

My kitten is almost 10 months but weighs 5.6 lbs. Is he OK? We feed him 2x a day, love a kitten bowl full. After he eats he doesn't act like he's hungry still. Or will he just be a smaller adult cat? The picture I posted is from a few weeks ago.

He looks to be appropriate weight based on the photo. Just feel him all over and as long as he doesn't have a protruding spine or protruding ribs, then he is appropriate weight. Here is a link to body condition score charting in cats to also help guide you as well --->https://www.wsava.org/WSAVA/media/PDF_old/Body-condition-score-chart-cats.pdf Some cats are just smaller frame. If he is considerd underweight once you view the chart and the criteria, then its best to get him seen by your vet to check for possible underlying medical concerns such as intestinal parasites. I hope that your fur baby George does well moving forward. Best wishes and take care. : )
