Rabbit nesting: Pregnant or false pregnancy? How to tell at home?

Question

So I put her in with a male on the 12th of January and she has started building a nest in a cosy spot between the cupboard and the wall. My question is can I determine without going to the vet if this is a false pregnancy or if she is actually pregnant? Thank you in advance. Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | 3 lbs

Thanks for reaching out about Lola. Late in the pregnancy you might be able to palpate fetuses, but should be careful not to damage them. With pseudopregnancy she can nest build, have mammary development and vulvar engorgement and lactate, so not easy to tell. A veterinarian should be able to ultrasound, but you will know in a short time either way as gestation is less that a month. Good luck.
