My cat's tail got caught in the door. What can I do for the injury?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 20 days old | 8 lbs

My cat's tail got caught in the door, and I think it might be fractured. I can't get him into the vet until tomorrow, what can I do for him in the mean time? He has a kink in his tail but his balance seems okay, there's no bleeding, and he doesn't seem to be in any pain. It does feel like he might have a bruise

Hello. I am so sorry about Dionysus' injury. There really is not much for you to do at this time. Your pictures do not show a completely limp tail, so that is a good sign, possibly that the tail was only bruised & not broken. So, have him checked tomorrow & hopefully he will be just fine. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
