My new puppy threw up after eating wet food. Should I be worried?

Causes of vomiting can be from: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, ate something that is upsetting his stomach, ate something that is stuck, food allergy or intolerance, reaction to human food/new dog food/new treat. I would withhold water for 4-6 hours and food for 12 hours. If he stops vomiting for the water fast, offer small sips of water and ice chips frequently. If he doesn't vomit at the 12 hour mark, resume feeding but feed a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day for 3-5 days as small frequent meals. Yes, it sure could be making him sick. If he is acting fine in every other way then I suggest you just stop with the canned food for now. If you want to try again at a later date then maybe try a different brand/flavor of food. If he is acting sick on top of vomiting then I suggest you get Simba to your vet for an exam now. Small breeds are more prone to issues such as hypoglycemia, so making sure Benji is fed several smaller meals throughout the day instead of larger ones may help, and may also decrease vomiting so he isn't eating too much all in one meal. If he continues to vomit, or shows other signs of illness in addition to it, a vet visit is best to rule out other issues such as illnesses, parasites, foreign body ingestion, etc that can also cause vomiting.

This could be due to the change in the food or the walks or something unrelated. I would offer him just a small amount of plain boiled boneless, skinless chicken and white rice to see if this helps to settle his tummy. I would try not to walk him immediately after feeding him. You can walk beforehand or wait about 30-45 minutes afterwards. If this helps, then I would slowly start to mix in his new food with the chicken and rice for a few days until you have him transitioned over to the new food. Hi, and thanks for your question. As a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours.
