What's this new sore on my pug's face below his jaw? Is it serious?

Ouch, poor Wups! He could have injured himself leading to the sore. I would gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap, then have him seen by a vet. If the blood is cloudy, I would be concerned the sore is infected and he will need antibiotics to treat the infection. The vet is the only one who can prescribe them. Have him seen by a vet today if possible, but not as an emergency; otherwise, have him seen by a vet tomorrow.

Poor Jose, this looks very painful. This could be caused by a tooth root abscess or an insect bite. He will need to be seen by a veterinarian ASAP for reduction of the swelling and antihistamine/steroid injection if it is an allergic reaction to an insect bite, or antibiotics if it is an abscess. In case of a tooth root abscess, Jose will need to have this tooth removed. He will also need pain medicine.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. It is not an emergency but it may possibly get worse during the next 24-48hours, especially if he keeps scratching. It does look like a pimple/pustule. I would not be overly concerned. It may go away on it's own. I recommend you use these medicated pads on the affected area once a day until healed. It is very common for pugs to get buildup in the creases on the face. If you notice redness, discharge, a foul odor or he paws at his face, I would recommend being seen by a veterinarian. Occasionally they can get an infection in those folds and require treatment with antibiotics. Otherwise, it is a good idea to keep these areas clean. You can use a warm wash cloth or a baby wipe and then dry them out well after cleaning.

Not seeing the sore, this would depend on the size of the sore. If it is a small one, up to 1/4 inch, you can just put some neosporin on it and monitor it and make sure it heals. If it does not start healing within a day or two or if it is getting bigger or if it is leaking pus or bleeding, then I suggest you have your veterinarian examine it.
