My cat's drained abscess is leaking. Is a gaping wound normal? Will it heal?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 3 years old | 7.72 lbs

hey, my cat has an abscess wound on his shoulder and the vet drained it by pressing on a pocket of pus that is near his armpit area, it was cleaned and everything, but when i got home the same pocket ruptured and is now leaking again. is that normal? will he have a deformity? since he has a gaping wound as a result of the abscess draining? will it ever heal and go back to normal?

Yes, that is normal and you actually want the abscess to drain. The gaping wound will fill in eventually and go back to normal. He should not have a deformity but I cannot say for sure without actually seeing the wound for myself. If you would like to post again with some photos we may be able to give you better advice.
