Hi there. The cost for a surgery like this will vary greatly depending on where you live and what clinic you go to, as well as how involved the surgery is expected to be - which we can't really know without being able to palpate the tumor and get a better idea of what it's attached to, how much extra skin there is in the area, etc. If cost is a concern, I would recommend calling around to some local clinics to see if they can give you a general price range for this type of surgery at their hospital. But to get a more specific estimate, you will likely have to take Dume in for an exam.

    Poor guy. Unfortunately we wouldn't be able to provide you an accurate or even a guesstimate on how much this would cost because each vet charges differently on a procedure like this. The best bet is to take him in to a few clinics and ask for a consultation to get a quote for a mass removal. I hope that everything works out well for Mr. Houch. Best wishes and take care.

It really depends on the area and also the clinc. This price can vary greatly and it also depends on the size of the mass. In order to get a better idea of what you would be looking at here I would recommend just taking Lucy in to your vet for an overall health exam and then they can give you an accurate quote for this mass removal. You can also look into low cost clinics in your area if you want to shop around for the best price. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for, so sometimes it is better to go with a reputable place when dealing with procedures like this for your pet. Costs will vary by geographical location. After an initial exam, typically $25-$50, the veterinarian will be able to provide an estimate for services. A fine needle aspirate can be done on the lumps to collect samples for pathology. Once results are received, the lump can simply be monitored or they may need surgical resection. Do not hesitate to request an estimate. Most clinics will provide one as a matter of hospital policy.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! The cost of surgery depends on how large the mass is and how long it will take. The price of surgery and submitting the masses for biopsy are hospital and regional dependent. I recommend finding a vet for an exam and to obtain an estimate. Where I work (notoriously inexpensive) it would cost about $500-600 to just remove it (guess with out seeing a picture) and the biopsy would be an additional $165 for one mass. I wish you the best.

Costs will vary greatly depending on the area you live in and the clinic you go to, as well as factors like the size and location of the lumps, overall difficulty of the procedure, etc. So this would be a question to ask the veterinarian who is going to perform the surgery - their staff should be happy to give you a detailed estimate for the costs involved. Some types of masses do get bigger and smaller over time. Your veterinarian should be able to explain why has been happening after the masses are sent off for histopath to find out what they are.

Lipomas can unfortunately get this big; and if they don't grow, become more firm or attached, or hinder the mobility of the pet removal may not be recommended. Typically most lipomas can be diagnosed with the test your family performed, a needle aspiration. But, sometimes I do see patients that develop a secondary tumor type within the lipoma. So it is important to periodically palpate the mass to make sure it's not changing in texture, firmness, or causing any discomfort to the pet. An xray of the area is also helpful to assess whether the mass is purely a fat density or if it may contain different tissue density that is more concerning. There are also some tumors that can masquerade as lipomas and may not be readily diagnosed with the needle cytology. If there is a suspicion of this scenario then some pets undergo a small biopsy. Unfortunately the only way to fully remove a lipoma is with surgery, although this can typically be more of a conserative surgery as these masses are benign

Hello. So sorry to hear that Lily is having this issue. Prices vary widely from veterinary clinic to veterinary clinic. It also depends on if a board-certified surgeon is doing the surgery or not. A board-certified surgeon will increase the price. Did your vet not give you an estimate of cost? I suggest you call a few clinics in your area to get quotes. Hello, sorry to hear about Sadie. It looks like the mass can be removed, however, it needs to be further evaluated to determine if it is bonging or aggressive. An aggressive mass may need a more invasive surgery then a benign mass and this would likely differ in prices as well. You should have your veterinarian evaluate this mass to determine if there is evidence of aggressive, cancerous cells. If none, a likely mass removal for this site may range from $700-1000 depending on your veterinarian fees. It could be more or less. Most skin cancers will heal completely if they are removed entirely, i would suggest having all the suspected cancerous tumors removed entirely rather than doing a biopsy first, this will be more cost effective.

Lumps can be caused by cysts, abscesses, or tumors, which can be benign or malignant. Unfortunately the only way to diagnose is to take Ptolemy into the vet. The vet will likely start with a fine needle aspirate, where a needle is inserted into the lump and a sample of cells taken to look at under the microscope. This will help determine what the lump is and whether it needs to be removed. Costs vary by area and even clinics, so it pays to call around if you're short on money. Good luck!
