My dog had a small round reddish pink worm in his stool. Do you know what kind it is?

It looks like this could be a piece of a roundworm or tapeworm segment. I would recommend taking a stool sample in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made. A dewormer is likely needed.

It could be a species of roundworm. Without a fecal exam, it is difficult to determine definitively. The good news is that it isn't an emergency. You can submit it and/or a stool sample to your veterinarian on Monday. Once the specific parasite is confirmed, the appropriate dewormer can be administered or dispensed. You may need to repeat it in two weeks. A monthly heartworm preventive, such as HeartGard or Sentinel, can protect against reinfection.

Those look like worms but a saturated, chewed up string toy could be mistaken. The two worms most commonly seen in the stool are roundworms and tapeworms. I recommend to collect this stool sample (worms included) and call your veterinarian. They may allow you to drop off the stool sample for testing or they may need to see Junie. Different wormers are used for different species and roundworms can infect humans as well so it’s important to know what they are. These could be roundworms which are obviously infesting the gastrointestinal system. A check up and appropriate medications are needed to confirm this clinical suspicion and resolve it effectively. Take a poo sample with you so your vet can identify the worms.

The rice should not have come out whole and undigested. What you were most likely seeing is tapeworm segments, which look very much like rice. If you can, bring a stool sample to the vet so they can analyze it. If it is tapeworm, you will be given a dewormer to use.

Well, first of all, if you actually see a worm in your dog's stool, there are many more in the intestine and it is kind of overcrowded. The white worm may be a tape worm, the pinkish one is likely a round worm. You will need to worm your dog, preferably with Drontal plus or a likewise wormer that contains also Praziquantel to kill any tape worms.

It sounds like it was a tapeworm. They are flat and segmented. The length depends on the segments that come out--they are offered compared to pieces of rice when individual. These worms are transmitted by the ingestion of a flea which can lead to a dull hair coat and dandruff also. It generally does not affect the appetite and cause that mucous and blood in the stool as noted in your pictures. I would be worried there is an infection of some sort and these worms are a secondary finding. You can find tapeworms medicines at the vets office or any pet store, but if the stool continues I would see a vet for further testing

It's hard for me to tell what is what in your pictures. Small white parasites that resemble grains of rice are often tapeworm segments. Other intestinal worms will be longer and more like types of spaghetti. They are easily treated with OTC dog dewormers. A vet examination and fecal parasite screening should be able to determine what intestinal parasites Izzy might have for more in-depth treatment.

It would be worthwhile taking a sample to your vets office to confirm exactly what species they are but if long and thin they are likely to be a roundworm species and not tapeworm (flat segments and often moving). There are many types of roundworm and your vets should be able to help you identify what you have so you can both treat and try and reduce re-occurrence

These are tapeworms and should be ideally treated with an effective prescription product. Fleas should be ideally controlled as well as they cause the infection (the worm lives inside the flea during his life cycle). Worm eggs are generally not visible, but adult worms and tapeworm segments are and generally move in fresh stools. It may be helpful to take the sample for a fecal exam and also to see if he is chewing anything like white plastic, bones etc which may be passed in stool; other causes may be poor digestion and undigested fat in to stool
