Dog's oozing, smelly neck lumps won't heal; vet meds failed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 65 lbs

Can someone please tell me what this is? There is one on my dogs neck and back with smaller ones forming. I’m trying to keep them clean as best I can. They ooze and have a fowl smell. My vet gave us antibiotics but it didn’t seem to help.

They could be sebaceous adenomas that have ulcerated and become infected. These growths are typically benign and common in older dogs. If this is the case, they should be surgically removed. This may not prevent them from developing elsewhere.
