Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 11 lbs
My Bichon Frise is an extremely picky eater. He is a male. In the past I had him on a chicken and beef diet because he hated kibble. That went on for almost 2 years. Three weeks ago he got A case of Diarrhea and it frightened me. I changed his diet to kibble gently soaked with milk or water. He was fine at first but suddenly he ate less and less. However if he smells meat he tries to eat some but I refuse. I’m concerned because he’s losing eight again. What can I do?

I recommend to have Panfilo examined by the veterinarian. A healthy dog is not expected to starve itself to the point of weight loss. They will eat when they get hungry enough. Weight loss is worrisome for things like kidney disease, cancer or heavy parasite burdens. Since he cannot talk and tell you what he is feeling, it's best to play it safe. Also, the diet you were feeding may not be balanced. Over time an unbalanced diet can lead to problems in the body. I recommend to discuss either having a balanced home made diet by a veterinary nutritionist or getting Panfilo on a fortified commercial dog kibble. I hope this helps.
