Why is my dog suddenly lethargic, whining, and not playing?

Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 85 lbs
my dog has drastically lost energy and quietly whines. He still eats breakfast and dinner. But doesn't beg for our food anymore. He has good looking poops and pees, but doesn't want to stay outside to play He is a 4 year old red nosed staffy.

Lethargy is often one of the first signs of illness but because it's such a general sign of many illnesses, I can't say what is going on with Cash without seeing him in person,. I'd have him seen by a vet.

I'm sorry your dog is not acting herself! She may not be feeling well, and that is causing her to be more lethargic than usual. Lethargy is a very general sign of illness, which can include systemic disease, infection, inflammation, an injury. I would monitor her for now, and if she is still acting this way in another 48 hours, I would take her into the vet for an exam.

My dog is unusually calm even when I returned home after being out for a few hours. He doesn't want to play with his toys. He also doesn't want any treats. He is currently sleeping under my bed. Why is he acting so strangely?

Toby is 5 yrs old. All day he has been very lethargic. He hasn't eaten or drank anything for 12 hrs. He won't jump or play. He does respond and turn when you call him after about 2 or 3 times.
Toby is experiencing very general symptoms of disease, these symptoms could fit almost any internal condition, maybe he is suffering from nausea due to a gastrointestinal disease and maybe he is in pain, from the symptoms described it's very hard to know. i would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible in order to get him checked, if he doesn't show any other obvious symptoms during the examination, a blood test and possibly an ultrasound will be needed in order to try and find out what is wrong with Toby.

why is my dog lethargic it only started to day
Lethargy is a very general sign that something may be wrong, so it is difficult to say what it means. Many things could cause it, from a little stomach upset to something more serious. Watch Billy as he goes through his day. Is he eating and drinking as usual? Does hes show any interest in treats? Are his stools normal? Any additional behavior that is "off" for him, or prolonged lethargy, would indicate that he needs to be seen by the vet for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.
