My dog has scabs after bladder stone surgery. Are they burns?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 12 years and 1 month old | 13 lbs

These appeared after my dog had bladder stone surgery. Could they have been caused by an allergic reaction to antibiotic or pain injection? They felt like small scabs but when the hair was removed this is what they look like.

Hello. These look like thermal burns to me. I would ask the veterinarian who did the surgery if a heating pad was used during Skyler's surgery. I am sorry that this has happened to him. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
