Why is my dog's ear drooping, head shaking, and constantly itching?

My parent's dog, a 5yo dachshund/yorkie mix, is having one of his ear tips suddenly droop. He shakes his head a lot and rubs his face/head on the carpet. He was diagnosed with IVDD last year when he herniated a disc and I made my mom take him to the vet because he was in excruciating pain. Since then he's been very "itchy" all the time. I'm worried he may have mites or an infection etc. Or can IVDD related nerve damages cause his issue? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 5 years old | 20 lbs

I recommend to have Dash examined by the veterinarian to check for an ear infection, vasculitis or hematoma. This and the itching is not likely related to the IVDD. Chronic itching is often due to allergies, fleas, skin mites or endocrine disease. The veterinarian can help you work through each of those to discover why Dash is itching. I recommend to have him examined. I hope this helps.
