Why is my parvo dog's diarrhea leaking while sleeping? Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 55.8 lbs

My dog has parvo. She has runny liquid diarrhea however it isn't bloody red anymore just liquidy brown. But while she is sleeping it continues to slowly keep coming out of her rear and she just lays in it sleeping or resting. Why is it doing that? It's like she can't control it or doesn't know. She has been having this problem for about 13 hours straight. I'd this normal for a parvo dog? Every 30 mins force fed a liquified bland chicken, rice, broth,& pedialyte mixture down throat.12-24ml every30

Poor MollyGirl! Sometimes with severe diarrhea it will just "leak out" like this, especially if the dog doesn't feel well enough to get up and move around. I would recommend having her lay on disposable puppy pads, so you can change them easily as soon as they get soiled.
