Why is my dog crying and in pain when touched, can't walk, or limping?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 years and 3 months old | 25 lbs

Two days ago my dog starting whining every time we would touch him or pick him up or walk. In the morning and at night he can’t really walk. When he tries he just cries and sits down. I have to pick him up by his butt and under his front legs or he cries and tries to bite me. Pooping fine and eating fine. Cries with any kind of movement. No injuries lately and no bleeding and no sores or lumps. He also holds up his back left foot when he tries to walk

Cooper needs to be examined by the veterinarian. It sounds something is wrong and something is hurting him. Not being able to walk well is very worrisome. Although the pain could be anywhere, lesions in the neck/spine or pancreatitis could account for this behavior. Both of these conditions need treatment and this should be sooner rather than later. Copper needs a physical exam to begin figuring out what is going on. He needs the correct diagnosis so that he gets the correct treatment. Have him examined today.
