Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund miniature | Male | neutered | 14 years and 4 months old | 11 lbs
My 14yr old dachshund won't eat his dry food and has lost weight. We thought it might be his teeth, so we tried soaking it in water/chicken broth and mixing with rice, but he got bored after a few days. He's hungry and otherwise acting normally, just won't eat the kibble. He's finally eating half to one bowl a day, and otherwise living off rice and scrambled eggs. Not sure what to do or feed him to help him eat enough and gain weight.

Hello. Have you tried any canned, wet or soft-moist foods? Some dogs do seem to prefer this as they age. I would especially try the FreshPet diet as many pets really seem to like it. If he continues to refuse to eat, you should have Dash evaluated by your veterinarian as there could be an underlying reason for his refusal to eat. Good luck & thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
