Why is my female cat peeing blood from stress with my male cat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 8 months old

Hello! My female cat started bleeding while urinating and I believe it's because of the stress my other cat puts on her (he's male). He's always chasing her and won't let her stay in her favorite spots. Sometimes they end up fighting too.

That does sound stressful. It would be a good idea to rule out urinary issues with your vet first, as blood in the urine can be a sign of illness. If Nikita checks out OK, providing separate spaces for her to hide, eat, drink, use litter, etc without your male harassing her is best to help reduce stress. Shared areas can also have a pheromone diffuser placed in them to help with inter-cat aggression.
