Is my cat's excessive licking due to stress from her kittens?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 5 months old | 3 lbs

Meeka has not got flea dermatitis I know the signs and what to look for, she has been out over an hour now and stopped crying and is now asleep relaxing with us like a normal cat what is the chances that she was getting stressed and so started nagging at her skin, I do believe it might be because she does need a break from the kittens they are 3 mainecoons and jump up and down her back which now I think is the issue maybe she needs some time out to relax

That is a simple answer. Stress licking does not typically cause redness of the skin, just hair loss and patchy bald areas. However, a flea allergy will cause redness, bumps and hair thinning typically on the lower back or lower belly. I hope that this helps! Best of luck and take care.
