Dachshund ulcer: sucralfate makes her worse. Is it safe to stop?

Question

My Dachshund has a stomach ulcer and is hurting a lot after every meal it seems. I was sick & didn't give her the sucralfate for 1 day and she actually seemed much better. I started giving it to her again every 12 hrs and she is hurting & whining all the time. Can I stop giving that medication or should I continue until its gone? This is week 3 & it's been refilled once. Would it be harmful or helpful? She still has Omeprazole & probiotics and is on a bland diet if that makes a difference. Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | spayed | 25 lbs

Hello, sorry to hear about Faith. If you think the sucralfate is making her feel sicker then you can chose to discontinue until you talk with your veterinarian tomorrow and discuss permanently discontinuing this medication. An ulcer should have healed by this time. Hope this helps and best of luck.
