Why is my cat vomiting brown, reverse sneezing, and sneezing blood?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 years old

my 3 year old cat has been throwing up solid light brown vomit so many times over the past 2 weeks. Before she pukes, she heaves a few times. Once it was watery and brown but a tint of orange as well. She’s also been reverse sneezing suddenly and 2 weeks ago she sneezed blood 2 times. I kept an eye on her for the next couple days and she didn’t do it again and was acting normal. Shes been acting like her normal self. She’s eating, normal stool color and solid. She’s eating and drinking fine

Hello, sorry to hear about Ichi. I would recommend having her evaluated by her veterinarian as sneezing blood is worrisome for an upper airway infection with fungus or bacteria. Alternatively, this could be associated with an allergic reaction or hypersensitivity for food or something in the environment. Finally, cats may develop inflammation of the sinuses and upper airway known as rhinitis. If she continues to have blood in her sneezing, vomiting, a decreased appetite, or other forms of nasal discharge then have her evaluated sooner. Hope this helps and best of luck.
