My puppy is scooting, licking, lethargic, and smells. Is it serious?

My dog has been scooting around the floor, licking his anal area and was very lethargic and lazy today even though he’s 7 months old. He also leaves an unpleasant odor when he scoots around. Is this a major concern? I am going to the vet on Tuesday for yearly vaccinations but was wondering if I need to take him before that if it is a major concern, Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 months and 17 days old | 31 lbs

Hello, sorry to hear about Bear. It sounds like his anal glands are impacted and need to be expressed. This can be a major concern if the anal gland becomes infected and leads to an abscess. You may need to take him to a veterinarian sooner if he develops any pus like discharge or pain around his anus. I would recommend having him evaluated sooner if possible as he may continue to leave the foul odor around your house and also be uncomfortable with his anal gland impaction.
