Dog threw up tampon/pad and is fine. Does he still need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Portuguese Water Dog | Male | 11 years and 2 months old | 80 lbs

My dog ate a tampon and a pad 2 days ago and has been acting perfectly normal, but he threw up this morning twice, the first time just his food and the second time it was the tampon and pad. After he did that he pooped and is still acting fine. Should I do something? Take him to the vet?

If you have recovered everything he ate from his vomit, then you may be able to just monitor him, however if Shaky is still acting very ill, or there is more he hasn't passed/vomited yet, I would be worried it could cause a blockage. If this is the case, it is best to seek veterinary care for examination/X-rays to see if a blockage is present.
