Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | spayed | 3 years and 6 months old
My rabbit has been eating less than normal recently and her stools are noticeably smaller. We took her to the vet two weeks and they just gave us some antacids to give her to see if they work. However nothing has changed and she’s started making nests out of hay which I’ve never seen her do before. Is this normal?

Thanks for reaching out about Hazel and including photos. She is spayed? Could be building a nest because she is uncomfortable or sick and trying to hide. Does she seem uncomfortable when you pet her/palpate her belly? Another visit to the veterinarian is recommended. Rabbits stomachs are normally very acidic and needed for digestion of hay. Giving antacids could alter the pH, complicating digestion. Providing some heat support can give some aid. Good luck.
