Hi today my vet prescribed Vetoquinol Care triglyceride omega liquid supplement for kidney health. Tony doesn’t like kidney food so combined with his phosphorus binder we are trying the omega liquid in his diet. Earlier a Petco Pet Education Center vet suggested some other supplements- vetriscience omega 3 6 9, azodyl & standard process renal support. Are these similar supplements to the Vetoquinol omega or should they be used in addition to Vetoquinol? Thx

The Vetri-Science omega would be the same as the Triglyceride liquid. Azodyl is a probiotic supplement that is supposed to increase nitrogen consuming bacteria in the gut and therefore put less stress on the kidneys - it could be given in addition to a fatty acid supplement like the Omega or Triglyceride. Standard process renal support contains extracts and herbs that are supposed to act as a nutritional supplement. This could also be given in addition to the Omega. I would recommend talking to your vet before starting a new supplement.

I am unfamiliar with this product but what I typically recommend for kidney supplementation is the following: 1. Fish oil with omega 3-6-9 by VetriScience 2. Azodyl 3. Standard Process Renal Support 4. Prescription renal diet (dependent on the severity)
