My carpet python has a dent after being trapped. What does it mean?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Python | Male | unneutered

I got home and my carpet python had trapped himself between the ceiling of his viv and the cage that holds the uvb and place and out of reach. I don’t know how long he was there. At first I thought he was dead but I pulled it free and after falling down he began to move about a bit. I’ve been using a pippette to try and hydrate. Very worried about a dent in hi side where he was trapped.

The "dent" may resolve after a day or two. If he was close to the bulb, a burn would be a concern. You can soak him to help dehydrate him. Consider an exam with your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles if the area does not resolve.
