My bird has something in one nostril. Is it an infection or injury?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Conure | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 11 days old

Do his nostrils look healthy? It looks like there’s something in the right one while the left one is clear and clean... If there’s something happening, what are the probable causes? Thank you?

The right side may be a bit swollen (infection or injury) or it may be "normal" for him. Types of infection include bacterial, fungal or mites. Monitor for lethargy, discharge, loss of appetite or loose droppings. A physical exam with your veterinarian or an experienced avian veterinarian would be recommended. At the very least, Ivy may get a clean bill of health and you will get peace of mind.
