Why does my senior dog collapse, pee, and stiffen while awake?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Male | neutered | 15 years and 7 months old | 20 lbs

About once every few weeks my dog collapses and pees. He does not lose consciousness, but is unable to move without help for a few minutes. He then recovers and is fine..... except for urine all over his underside. When he collapses his limbs become somewhat ridged. He is about 14 years old and other than the above he appears health and active. He is a Cockapoo mix

That is very concerning and I would be worried about a neurologic issue such as seizure, or a functional nerve/muscle issue. If this has happened multiple times it would be best to bring Jack into your vet for a thorough senior wellness exam and testing such as bloodwork to rule out serious issues.
