My cat has fleas. Should I treat my car for fleas after a trip?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered

I took my outdoor cat for a rabies shot today. It travelled in a plastic cat carrier in my car. The clinic said the cat has fleas. I know the cat needs treated for the fleas. What do I do about the car? I’m concerned that a flea jumped off of it during transportation. The cat was in the plastic cat carrier the whole time while in the car.

Hi there. It's very unlikely that fleas would survive for any length of time in your car, even if any did jump off of the cat during the trip. As long as you treat the cat, the car should be fine. :)
