My hamster has an eye cut. When should I worry and see a vet?

Hi. I have a hamster who seems to have some kind of cut/scrape around her eye, this being the second day. She has not been acting out of the ordinary; she has continued eating, drinking water, getting up regularly, and grooming herself regularly. I am worried now though because she has not ran on her wheel these two days. I have been occasionally cleaning her eye with some saline solution without irritating, but I do not know if I should be any more worried.

Thanks for reaching out about Othello. Take a careful look at the eye itself, and if concerns, a veterinary visit is very important. If the scratch is only around the eye, continue to keep clean. Monitor food and water intake, activity and possible ocular discharge. Good luck.
