Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 12 years and 8 months old | 12 lbs
My cat has a swelling next to his nose that comes and goes. It first appeared in May 2019 (pic 1). At first, there was no wound, no affect on his breathing. At some point it drained, and there was a scab. It hasn't ever been has large since, but it hasn't really gone away, either. He's been getting antibiotics - currently both Clavamox and Zeniquin - and during this course, it still looks better and worse. Vet says it couldn't result from a dental abscess - his teeth look fine.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jake. I would recommend that he goes under anesthesia and has x-rays of his teeth to be sure a dental abscess is not to blame. If this is not the case, it may be warranted to tested for a fungal infection. Finally, you can seek a second opinion with an internal medicine specialist. I hope this information helps!

Poor Mushu. It does look pretty bad. I'm wondering if he has a fungal or superficial bacterial infection causing the issue on his nose. Without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. I would have him seen by a vet today. The vet can diagnose it and can treat him. Give his vet a call today. I hope this helps!
