Spayed dog 5 days ago: Is her incision healing? How to keep her calm?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 13 lbs

Hi, it's 5 days after my dog was spayed and I want to ensure her scar looks to be healing okay. She's normally a very active dog and it's hard to keep her calm sometimes, especially since my dad thinks she's done healing and should be free to run and jump all over the yard. Sorry not great pics, she didn't want to stay on her back.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Lily. I know it is hard to do, but a dog should really be kept quiet for 10-14 days post-spay. This allows her body to heal. She went through major abdominal surgery. Her incision appears to be healing well from your pictures. I hope this information helps!
