My German Shepherd has soft, light-colored poop. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered

My GSD its well and is mostly hungry. He excrete about 2 to 3 times a day, the faeces is always very soft, i mean it is not hard. Its not liquid but like semi solid. Its light yellowish in colour or a bit whitish. What may be the problem with him? Is it normal?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Cesar. This is not a normal consistency of feces. The stool should be formed and solid. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian for fecal testing. An infection should be ruled out. A diet change can help to improve stool quality if those tests are negative. Finally, there is a condition known as Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) that is common in his breed. I recommend discussing these possibilities with his veterinarian. I hope this information helps!
