My cockatiel's feathers are changing color. Is it normal or a problem?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Male | 2 years and 5 months old | 0.19 lbs

Hello, my cockatiel feathers started to change colour? Im not really sure what that means but his body used to be a solid colour with no spots or white areas, is that normal or does it mean anything? Or could indicate a sickness maybe? The picture where he is on the door is him a year ago and the other one is a recent one

Thanks for reaching out about Kody and including photos. Dietary deficiencies (vitamin A, pigments, essential amino acids), some viral diseases, lack of bathing, can all lead to possible color changes. A review and change of the diet to include avian pellets, a wide variety of vegetables and a protein source (beans, legumes, tofu) could help. Good luck.
