My new rescue dog has a skin condition. Is it contagious? Quarantine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | unspayed | 1 year old

Dog not in my possession yet, attempting to rescue from a neglected home and when I have her she will visit a vet. But I'm Unsure on what kind of skin condition she could have. Could it be mange/fungal infection/allergies? could it be contagious? I have other pets in my home and want to know if I should keep her in quarantine till seen by vet. Thank you in advanced

It could be any of those and yes, it could be contagious. There is no way to diagnose a skin condition just with photos. If I had to guess I would say mange is most likely but again, impossible for me to say for sure based on the photos. There are two types of mange - one is contagious, the other is not. I would quarantine this dog from all your other pets and assume she is contagious until you can get her to the vet.
