Hello, I have a 2 year old mutt and she was eating her dinner when all of a sudden she stopped and appeared in a lot of pain. She started pacing and trying to sit down, but would cry when she tried. When i went to check if she was bloated she yelped in pain well I touched her ribs. She paced for whined for about 30 minutes but she finally settled. She has drank water is now sleeping. Is there a chance this is just gas pain? Or should I be running her to the emergency vet that’s an hour away?

Hello, sorry to hear about Ferris. In dogs that develop and bloat, they will show signs of open mouth breathing, non-productive retching as if trying to vomit, severe abdominal pain, and bloated/distended abdomen. These signs don't generally subside without emergency intervention that requires surgery. If Ferris is now comfortable and sleeping then its likely she does not have a bloat especially after drinking water and keeping it down. However, it cannot be determined without getting her evaluated, so if Ferris continues to have the signs you saw initially, then I would indeed get her evaluated soon. Hope this helps and best of luck.
