My dog's tail has a bleeding spot from biting. Flea bite? Neosporin?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 3 years and 2 months old | 27 lbs

My dog is bleeding on a spot on her tail. She was biting on it earlier. Could this be a flea/tick bite? Can I put neosporin on it to help it?

Lesions like this could be for many things including fleas, trauma or bacterial infection. You must protect the area from licking and Allura should wear an Elizabethan collar at all times. You can wash the area and let it air dry. Otherwise no action is generally needed. If she continues itching, have her examined by the veterinarian to look for underlying causes. I hope this helps.
