My dog is coughing very dry. But he's still active. What should I do?

A cough can have many causes. Ideally. He should be seen by your veterinarian. Infection, heart disease, parasites or allergies are just a few causes. If it worsens, becomes productive or if he develops lethargy, exercise intolerance or difficulty breathing, he should definitely be physically examined by your veterinarian.
