My cat's face is swollen after an injury. How long will it last?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9.9 lbs

My cat had an accident last week. She had a face wound. There was lots of blood and swelling so I took her to the emergency vet. They gave anti-inflammatories. The swelling has gone down mostly but she still has a hard egg on the side of her face. I just wondered how long it should take for swelling to go down. She is eating and doesnt seem to be in pain.

Hi and thanks for posting. It is good to hear Toggy is still eating despite the injury/wound. It is hard for me to say how long it will take to heal or for the swelling to decrease since I haven't seen Toggy to get an idea of how severe it is. Typically swelling for most minor wounds decreases within 2-5 days but could be longer for more severe wounds sometimes up to a week or more to heal.
