My puppy is always hungry. How much Royal Canin puppy food to feed?

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | 3 months and 14 days old | 6.34 lbs

I need help about Neros food. He is always hungry. I think he is not eating enough food. He eat royal canin puppy food for main food. And small amounts of rice, chicken and yogurt sometimes broccoli for snack. What should I do? How much food does he need?

Read Nero's bag of food to see if you are feeding him enough, it will tell you the amount he should be getting daily. Also have him seen by a vet to make sure there isn't a medical reason behind him being so hungry, like intestinal worms.

You should weigh your dog. If you take him to your vet, you can usually weigh him for free. Then follow the instructions on the bag. If they recommend 2-3 cups (daily) for 15 -25 lbs puppies, then a 15 lbs puppy would get 2 cups split up over 4 feeds/day. If your puppy loses condition or weight I suggest you either increase the amount of feed or change (transition over several days) to a better puppy food such as manufactured by Hill's, Royal Canin or Purina Pro Plan, etc.

My puppy seems likes she's always hungry, I'm worried I'm not feeding her enough
Puppies do tend to have large appetites because they are growing so quickly. I'd first make sure you are feeding her a puppy formulated food. Puppies need higher amounts of calories, protein, and calcium than adult dogs, and a puppy formulated food would provide that for Bonnie. I would recommend feeding her a high quality puppy formulated food, such as Royal Canin or Hills Science diet. Finally, I recommend feeding according to the package instructions on the food to make sure she is getting the correct amount, and avoid giving her human food, as there are many that are poisonous to a dog.

I just bought Royal Canin Maxi Junior for my pup...It I not eating much of it...What can I do?
If your puppy is less than 6 months of age, I would divide the daily allotment of food into three equal portions and feed him morning, noon, and evening. You can try mixing in some wet food to make it appealing to him, and over time decrease the amount of wet food until he is eating the dry food only. Excellent choice of food!

If you are using Royal canin the amount you need to give your puppy is written on the food label, if you are using a different food you cannot use this measuring cup as each brand has different recommended amounts of food but here again it is written on the food label of every food.

He’s telling you you’re not feeding him enough. I judge the amount to feed a growing puppy by how they eat. They should be hungry at each meal, and almost finish the food. If he’s ravenous then I gradually increase the amount at each feeding, and also add another meal. If he’s growing quickly you want him to have enough nutrition. As he grows he may not eat as much later and not want the extra meal. It’s fine then to go to three or two meals daily. I don’t worry about them getting fat until they are six months to a year old, then certainly at that point or when he’s fully grown you can reduce the amount or change the food to diet food. Puppies will eat themselves sick if you allow it. Portion sizes for puppies are not one size fits all. Check the back of the bag of food. Manufacturers frequently provide feeding guidelines based on your puppy's age and weight. Feed 3-4 times daily then decrease as the puppy matures until you are feeding twice daily. Since he is extremely food driven, use this to your advantage when training.

Bravo sounds like a typical Golden Retriever! They can be very food motivated. I would ask your vet about the proper amounts to feed him based on his weight, and they'll be able to tell you if he's growing aappropriately as well. We don't want large breed dogs growing too fast as it can predispose them to joint problems. Best of luck!

Make sure Klaus doesn't have intestinal worms, as that can cause a puppy to be hungry all the time. Have him seen by a vet for a health check. Also make sure you are feeding him enough food. Read the label on his bag of food to see if you are feeding him the correct amount daily.

I feed Louie Victor nutra pro, which is for active dogs and puppies, there is only a feeding guide food adults. Should I feed him the same amount for the same weight? Should I double it? How much calories should he be getting?
I go by how hungry your puppy is not by the recommended amount of food on the bag. Young puppies need to eat more often so I feed three times daily. I would start with the amount on the bag. If he is starving at the next meal you are not feeding enough. He should be hungry at the next meal and just finish the food. Increase the amount as needed to keep him from being too hungry. As he grows up he will stop being hungry at the mid day meal so you can stop that. I continue to feed two meals dail for the rest of his life. My puppy not eating Kirkland puppy food. Should I switch to something else? He doesn't eat all of it and I wonder if he doesn't like it. Had him for about 3 weeks.. and he is about 4 months old.
You may be feeding too much. Use the recommendation on the back of the bag for his weight for a starting place for amount fed/day. If he is bright, alert, plays like a normal puppy and is gaining weight, he is likely just fine. Make certain he is current on his deworming and vaccinations. Puppies at this age do well with 2-3 meals daily. If you leave food out all the time he may not ever be particularly hungry and therefore it seems like he isn't eating well. I personally prefer a Hills/Science Diet or Royal Canin brand puppy food if you want to try a different, higher quality puppy diet. Hope that helps!
