Boston Terrier puppy struggling to breathe: When can she get surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 8 days old | 200 lbs

I have a Boston terrier she’s 13 weeks old and when sleeping seems to struggle to breath through nose. She has really narrow nostrils and also when awake and eating tends to gag a lot. I think she needs surgery however how much roughly is this and when can dogs have it? She’s only 13 weeks but I don’t want her to get heart problems because of this . Can they have this surgery so young?

I would recommend videoing the episodes and scheduling an assessment with your vet. Although definitive surgery is not usually carried out until more mature, further options may be recommended to reduce symptoms
