My dog pees inside. Can a free catch urine sample be cultured?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 6 years and 4 months old | 11 lbs

Kiwi having a few accidents in House took to vet no infection if continues they want to Do a urine culture with taking urine one out with needle well the accidents haven’t stopped it’s now every night so I probably have her seen again but I am super nervous about the extraction of her urine is it possible just to do a free catch again like I have always done? I really don’t want to put her threw this pain Of needle in her tummy thank you

Cultures need to go through a sterile procedure because a free catch urine will grow bacteria since bacteria naturally live at the end of the urethra. I recommend to discuss your concerns with your vet who may be able to put you at ease. Please feel free to post any additional questions.
