Distemper dog's head twitching, dry nose, and eyes closed. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | unspayed | 5 lbs

my dog's head is palpitating. it seems like in humans, when you clench your teeth, your temple seems to move too. he also has dry nose, always has his eyes closed despite being called. what could this possibly mean? he was recently diagnosed with distemper and I guess gradually healing from it aside the seizures.

Hello. Unfortunately, Bans is showing petite or mild seizures due to his distemper diagnosis. These may either improve or worsen as time goes on. At this point all you can do is supportive care, making sure she eats & drinks & stays as warm & dry as possible. Good luck with her & thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
