My cat has eye/nose pus, won't eat, and is lethargic. What's wrong?

Hi, I just want to ask what to give my cat. She has a pus going out from her eyes and nose. She used to have a colds before, she doesn't have a wound. What can I give to her. Can I just buy an antibiotic? What antibiotic, and for how many days? I don't have money for a vet. I want her to keep alive. She can't eat anymore and just lying down. Pls help thanks!

This is a medical emergency and Nany has to see a vet now. Antibiotics are prescription only, and she looks extremely bad in your picture. I'm concerned she could die without veterinary care. Please see if you can borrow money from family and friends to afford the vet, and take her into one right away.

    Yes, a vet is a good idea. It sounds like your cat has a severe upper respiratory infection. He will need medications from your vet. If a cat can't smell they won't eat and if they don't eat they get very sick. He really needs treatment sooner than later.

This is a medical emergency, and Bonney needs to see a vet now. She sounds quite sick, and it's actually extremely serious when a cat stops eating. They will develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment if they do not eat for a couple of days. That must be prevented, and the only way to get the needed treatment for her is through a vet. You cannot treat this at home. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

Hunny's eyes look really bad. It looks like she has a severe eye infection. Any eye problem is considered an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take her into a vet immediately. While there, the vet can treat her stuffy nose as well. Best of luck.

That looks like a pretty bad wound that needs to be seen by your vet. Wounds on cats can easily get abscessed (infected) and if Nani is also weak and not eating I would be concerned he is very ill or in a lot of pain. Your vet can clip and clean the area, stitch up or drain any wounds/swelling, and provide you with pain medications and antibiotics to help with recovery.

Our cat isn't eating and his eyes are squinty and cloudy. What might be wrong with him?
This can be a sign of a respiratory infection and nasal congestion. It can also be a sign of a corneal ulcer or other trauma to the eye that can be causing pain. Since he is not eating and has potential to have an ulcer, it is best if he gets seen at an emergency clinic tonight to get medication started before he gets dehydrated.

I tried giving Miss Kitty some Lysine with her food. She is now discharging green from her nose. Can I give her some penicillin vk 500 mg, or any portion thereof ground up in her food? Catching her is impossible
This is a classic presentation of a cat with an upper respiratory disease. They usually do have a fever early in the infection and will feel bad. They also tend to avoid eating and drinking, because the congestion in the nose does not allow them to breathe properly. You can help the congestion by giving him a steam bath (if possible). Poor kitty. Both 3rd eyelids are raised which is what you are seeing in the middle corner of her eyes. I can also see a small amount of discharge from her eyes. This is commonly seen in viral infections in kitties. This isn't an emergency and can wait until tomorrow to be treated. These viral infections will often cause a secondary bacterial infection so the vet will likely give her a short course of antibiotics and an antiviral. I hope your kitty feels better soon! This is probably an upper respiratory infection. it's very common in young cats and is very contagious to other cats as well. It is treated with oral antibiotics for about 2 weeks.as he is not eating it is considered an emergency. I advise going to your vet asap to start the treatment right away.

Oh no, poor kitten! It's very concerning that it's hard for her to open her eyes and they are red. Because she hasn't had any shots, she could be suffering from calicivirus, herpesvirus, or a respiratory infection. The eye is such an important and delicate structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would have your kitten seen by a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. my cat keeps getting the cold only seems to clear up for a few days then she starts sneezing again going of her food because she can not smell, do i need to take her to the vet?
There are various causes for sneezing, bacterial or viral infection, a fungal infection or sometimes other causes. If pus is present, your cat will not eat as her food will not smell familiar as food. Usually these infections are not life-threatening, however, as they keep your kitty from eating is a serious concern as this alone can make your cat seriously ill potentially causing hyperlipidemia. Please take Tinker to your veterinarian ASAP. If it is indeed a bacterial infection, your vet will prescribe an antibiotic which should clear up the infection soon. If there is a polyp or foreign body in the nasal passages, removal is necessary. If the cause is viral or fungal, your vet will prescribe an antiviral drug or antifungal medication. Please take her to the vet ASAP. In the meantime, remove any nasal discharge as soon as you see it with a tissue. Warm up her food (wet food) to make it more attractive and intensive in aroma.

It's a medical emergency when a cat won't eat. There is nothing we can do to help you from this site except advise an immediate vet visit. It is illegal for us to prescribe medication, and we cannot diagnose what is going on with Tabby without seeing her in person. You have no choice but to take her into a vet now.
