What's this hairless, scabbed, itchy spot on my cat's neck?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 1 month old

Hello, I had a question that I needed help on. I own 4 cats, one mom and her 3 kids. They’re indoor and outdoor cats. Well while I was putting them in I was petting the mom and I felt something on her neck. It seems to be a patch of hairless skin with some bite, scab, sore. I don’t know if she got bitten or what wrong but I just want to know if she’s okay and if there’s anything I need to do. She has her rabies shot and she’s spayed. She’s about 2 years old. shes seems to be scratching at it too

Unfortunately I can't tell from the photo is that is a bite or something like miliary dermatitis: https://www.petcoach.co/article/feline-miliary-dermatitis-in-cats/ I recommend to have Chubbs examined by the veterinarian and to protect the area from any scratching by having her wear an elizabethan collar at all times. I hope she heals quickly.
