My dog Oliver’s butthole is extremely swollen and he keeps dragging it along the carpet. So much so that now both his butt and his balls are being rubbed raw, what can I do to help him? And should he be seen immediately?

Since he is so uncomfortable, he should be seen as soon as possible. If your veterinarian is unavailable, consider the nearest veterinary ER. He may have impacted anal glands that may be starting to abscess. They should be expressed (emptied). He may need antibiotics for infection and anti-inflammatory medication for pain management. If he is licking, place an e-collar (cone) on him. Diapers can be used to protect his sensitive bits from further abrasion.
