Pet's info: Fish | Tropical Fish | Female | unspayed
Okay so I have 6 guppies in my community tank and I think 2 of them may be pregnant, the one has a spot but she’s not really big, I looked it up and it said that a spot means that they are pregnant, the second one when I got all my guppies it was slim and red but now it is big and orange but I don’t see a spot, I’m confused as to what indicates they are pregnant and if they are.???

A female guppy will develop what is known as a "gravid spot" when pregnant. It is triangular and located near the vent on the abdomen under the tail. It will get bigger and darker as she nears spawning. If she was skinny when you got her and she is that big now, she is pregnant. They are live bearers, so the fry (baby fish) will need cover (places to hide) or they will be eaten. It is best to separate them into grow out tanks.

Thanks for reaching out about your guppies and including photos. A swollen abdomen is probably the most common clinical sign of pregnancy. Not aware of any dermal changes like a spot to indicate pregnancy. Monitor for activity and birth. Good luck.
