A cat's heat can last up to three weeks, so no I would not be worried. I would be concerned, however, if it lasts longer than this or you start seeing things such as a bloody and smelly discharge from her vulva, vomiting, lethargy, and a loss of appetite.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tigresa. Cats will go into heat multiple times throughout the breeding season. The cycles can vary in length, but generally last about one week. If she does not mate, her symptoms will resolve. She will likely go back into hear again soon though. Spaying her will alleviate these signs. I hope this information helps!

This is suspicious for a possible ovarian cyst that could be continuing to produce hormones. If this does t resolve on its own in a few days then I would recommend that she be evaluated by a veterinarian. If you don’t plan to breed her then a spay would likely solve the problem. Can they can have repetitive heat one after another one lasting more than one week. More extended period showing these signs may be due to abnormal ovaries (usually ovaric cysts) hyperproducing estrogen. I would suggest to have checked, eventually have an ultrasound performed and have her spayed.

Willow is adorable! A heat cycle in a cat can last from a few days to a week, so this is quite normal. Female cats are als induced ovulators, meaning that the frequency of their heat cycles will vary given the time of year (amount of sunlight) and if an intact male cat is nearby.

Is it true that multiple heat cycles indicate cystic ovaries? And can lead to infection? I’ve read that multiple heat cycles are ok for cats because of go into heat because they aren’t pregnant or spayed.
Unspayed cats over 6 months of age will generally have a heat cycle every 1-6 weeks (on average every 3 weeks). This does not indicate cystic ovaries and pyometra (an pus filled uterus) is generally more of a concern in unspayed dogs and not generally a concern in cats. Unwanted litters and overpopulation is often a concern however, so having Hermionine spayed is recommended if she is in contact with male cats that you do not want her to breed with. Good luck!

Hi! Cat heat cycles can last from 1-3 weeks, so she may not be done yet. You can try stimulating ovulation by rubbing her vagina with a q-tip, but if this is done, she will likely come back into heat in a few weeks. If ovulation is not stimulated, she may wait 4-6 months before coming back into heat. There is no safe or effect cat birth control options like there are for human females. Spaying her is the only guarantee that she will no longer go into heat or get pregnant. I strongly urge you to consider getting her spayed for both her health and to prevent further pet overpopulation. As cats get older, their chances of getting a life-threatening infection in their uterus increases every year (called pyometra). Spaying Fifi is 100% effective at preventing pyometra, and I promise that she will be much healthier being spayed now than requiring emergency spay surgery with an infected uterus many years in the future.

My dog(indie breed female) her heat cycle started in Feb 24 but still her vulva is bleeding
On average a dog will be in heat for 1 ½ to 2 weeks but this can be shorter or longer; up to 4 weeks. So, this may be normal for her. Just keep monitoring her and if the heat lasts longer than 4 weeks she should be examined by your vet.

Operation in a cat can be performed anyway even if in heat. There are no major complications and technically is not more challenging as it would be in a dog. 6 days is a long time, although it's pretty impossible to predict how long she might be gone for. Usually when they're in heat they come and go, returning home to eat. Hopefully she has come back home by now, but if not I would put signs up in your neighborhood.

A pyometra doesn't happen when they are in heat. It typically happens a few weeks after the heat cycle has ended. So, I doubt that is the problem. Some vaginal discharge when they are in heat is normal and the amount can vary from queen to queen. There is no "normal" amount I can give you. All I can say about that is that the discharge should not be enough that she is leaving puddle around. Hope this helps. Best wishes!
