My foster cat pees in bed. Is it stress or a litter box problem?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

Hi so further to my previous Foster cat urinating in my bed query. I had the cat at the vet and it is not illness related. I was going to give him back but he is so nice I'm afraid he ll be returned if he soils in someone else's house. I have him one month now. He was in a kennel for 7 weeks so maybe he needs time to adapt to a house? He was a stray cat but not feral. I left him out an open and closed litter box to start with and he only uses the closed. Do I just need patience

Do give him some patience. Moving into a new home is stressful. It's good that he uses the closed litter box, get another one of those for him. Keep the boxes away from his food and water, cats will not use the box if it's too close to their food and water.
