My dog has shivering spasms after eating chicken wings. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 30 lbs

My dog has “shivering spasm” about every 3-5 seconds. He had it earlier I sat with him and covered him with the blanket thinking he was cold and it did eventually stop. But he’s having them again. And I’m concerned because he and my other dog got into a plate of chicken wings and ate them all it was about 10 or so. He’s acting normal, eating as usual. But the little spasms he’s having worries me

Hello. Shivering like this could be an indication of an elevated temperature, pain, of a fear of something, perhaps a noise Paco heard ( like distant thunder, gun shots or fireworks ). Since he is otherwise acting normally & eating fine, then just keep him comfortable & see how he is in the morning. Any lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting or diarrhea, please see your veterinarian at your earliest convenience. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
