What causes my dog's black skin dots, low energy, and breathing issues?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 12 lbs

My dog looks a bit down lately, very low energy. She is 7 years old and few weeks ago we noticed on her back close to her tail she has black dots on her skin and fur, the vet told us it’s not flees and it’s just dirt. But it has been few months now and she still has it, and it looks like it coming out of her skin, also her belly and nipples have it. She experiencing diarrhea, she had one seizure few months ago and sometimes short of breath. She eats only wet food and some treats but not dry food

Poor Bar! Those dark spots on the skin could indicate blocked pores, irritation or a skin infection. Combined with the other symptoms, you may want to have Bar checked for Hypothyroidism and kidney disease. The breathing is concerning as well. I recommend to have her examined and have some diagnostics run to check for systemic disease. Since pets can't talk and tell you whats wrong, they need a physical exam to start figuring out the illness. I hope this helps.
